Regionals shake up NESS season standings
With Regionals offering a big field – and with it a lot of series points – there was the potential for a shakeup in the series standings. And that was certainly the case.
Theodore and Petros Dulos finished 1-2 atop a field of 12 Men’s NESS skiers at last weekend’s Regionals to firmly launch themselves into the top half of the season standings in their only NESS event so far this year.
On the season Bob Radimer and Dan Warner are tied for first with 180 points, Hutch Haines sits in third with 150 points, while Theodore is tied with Scott Behner for fourth and Petros sits alone in 6th. If the NESS finals were held today, the names above would be joined by Justin Campfield, Scott Cerosky, Wyatt Haines and Bruce Epstein in a 10-man finals field.
Tonya Maurer used a strong showing at Regionals to catapult herself atop the Women’s season rankings, edging ahead of Skylar Hathorn who sits in second after skipping Regionals. Darlene McCormick is in third, while Kathy Callan and Donna Epstein are tied for fourth.
With eight female skiers in the series (at least up to this point) four will qualify for the finals, meaning Kathy and Donna will ski the Aug. 27th Vermont tournament – the final NESS stop of the 2016 season – in what is shaping up to be a head-to-head battle for the final spot in the Sept. 3-4 finals.
